Industrial Firework and Safety Specialist (IFSS) 

We employ industrial firework and safety specialists who meet the following formal requirements:

Education Requirements

  • Specialist vocational qualification in safety supervision (TVEAT) and/or technical specialist vocational qualification (TEAT).
  • Fire officer or sub-officer training at the Rescue Institute and/or firefighting/rescue basic courses.
  • First aid (EA 1)
  • Occupational safety card
  • Hot work card
  • Driver's license
  • Experience as a fire watcher and/or supervisor of fire watchers.
  • Additional safety and fire/rescue experience/training is considered an advantage.

Language Skills

  • Excellent Finnish (spoken/written)
  • Good English (minimum intermediate level)
  • Additional language skills are considered a plus

Job Description

  • Acts as an expert for the client's production manager/responsible person in preparing, supervising, and training on issues related to hot work and occupational safety.
  • Performs risk assessments, risk analyses, and makes corrective and improvement proposals before starting hot work.
  • Conducts post-project risk analysis and reporting, including improvement proposals (weather and environmental conditions included).
  • Immediately reports near-miss incidents according to guidelines and takes action to eliminate or reduce risks.
  • Provides feedback on hot work to contractors with improvement suggestions.
  • Supervises and advises fire workers and fire watcher supervisors on work-related risks and their mitigation.
  • Checks the professional qualifications of fire workers and fire watchers.
  • Monitors the execution of hot work and adherence to occupational safety regulations, as well as advises on safety requirements for the protection level required by the work site.
  • Oversees the use, inspection, and compliance of safety-related machinery, structures, materials, and personal protective equipment (HS).
  • Supervises work at heights and lifting operations (harnesses, ladders/scaffolding, demarcations, lifting equipment).
  • Trains and advises hot work employees, fire watchers, and their supervisors on the company’s occupational safety and security requirements and procedures in safety incidents (alarm, first aid, fire and rescue operations, and other hazardous situations).
  • Participates as an expert in meetings and working groups related to occupational safety and hot work, as well as prepares meeting minutes and reports.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by the client's supervisor.
